Storyteller Hyunmin Jun

My name is Hyunmin Jun, and I am a storyteller who brings narratives to life through writing, filmmaking, acting, and, most profoundly, photography.

As the son of renowned artist Yongbok Jun, I was immersed in a world of creativity from an early age. This upbringing instilled in me a deep appreciation for artistic expression and shaped my journey as a storyteller.

Born in Japan, I have lived in Korea, New Zealand, and the United States, experiences that have enriched my perspective and storytelling techniques. These diverse cultural influences have allowed me to weave together stories that resonate with people across boundaries.

I believe that life itself is a collection of stories. Your life is a story, the familiar alley you walk through is a story, and even your hands tell a story. My mission is to frame these moments—through my lens and my words—so that they can be seen, felt, and cherished by others. Storytelling is not just what I do; it is who I am.

Professional Pursuits

My career spans a dynamic blend of artistic disciplines, reflecting my passion for storytelling in all its forms. As a screenwriter, I have crafted award-winning scripts that bring compelling narratives to life, earning recognition on an international stage. As a photographer, I focus on capturing the raw and authentic moments of human life, with my work showcased in solo exhibitions and galleries.

As an Assistant Professor at Midwest University, I guide and inspire the next generation of creators. My role encompasses teaching art and ESL, mentoring emerging talent, and supporting faculty in their artistic journeys.

Beyond academia, I actively engage with the global art community as a curator and juror for the Midwest International Art Competition (MIAC), championing young artists and their creative visions.

Storytelling defines my professional pursuits. Through every project, lecture, and collaboration, I aim to bridge cultures, inspire innovation, and demonstrate the enduring power of art to connect and transform.
